Andres Cantor Calls Oribe Peralta Goal For Mexico In Olympics Gold Medal Game For Telemundo (VIDEO)

Andres Cantor is one of the world's most famous soccer announcers for his legendary GOOOOOOL calls.  So you can bet the Telemundo play by play man was going to give it his all for Mexico's stunning upset of Brazil in the Olympic soccer gold medal match.  

Mexico's 2-1 victory in the Olymipcs (although the tournament amounts to a U-23 competition) can't be downplayed as they are arriving as a force in world soccer at the top level.  What better way to announce that arrival than this call of Oribe Peralta's 1st minute opener.

His "GOOOOL" call is on the ball here. lol To make a gol during the first breathers of the game is pretty exciting. Often its a sign of whats to come.

I used to hate the Mexican team and the fans. Mostly the fans. I had urine thrown on me by them a few years back. Now I just feel sorry for them, I mean, its Mexico. What else do they going for them right now?

Narcotics I guess.

Wow. A single bad experience and you blame ALL the Mexican fans? Ever had a bad experience at an American sporting event? Did you then "hate" the American fans?

In answer to your question, "what else do they have going for them?" I can't answer without some generalizing, but I would say that they have 300 days of sunshine, beautiful beaches, awesome food, and most of all a very friendly and delightful population. They are very spiritual, and have close familial relationships that would be the envy of any "family values" politician. It is a culture that adores and treasures its children.

I think the problem with us Americans is that we measure what other people "have going for them" by our own materialistic, wealth-chasing standards. I don't think there are many other cultures that measure themselves using our culture's yard stick. In my experience, there is a lot of happiness and enjoyment of life in Mexico.

Andres Cantor is a legend! I grew up watching soccer on spanish-language tv and, beside his funny pronunciation of European player's names, his GOOOOOOOAAAAAL was part and parcel of the soccer-watching experience.
