Dr. O'Neill: I lead a division of a company that has been hit hard by the economy. Other divisions have instituted layoffs, and our overall business plan seems to be in a constant state of flux. My employees are petrified and ask me for reassurances, which I cannot give. In fact, there's a good chance I will have to tell some employees they no longer have jobs in the near future.
