We spend lots of time focusing on what stars wear (and any wardrobe malfunctions they may have), but what about what they put on their faces? Although makeup may not seem important, we're always being presented with new images of beauty in the form of celebrities that model for makeup companies like CoverGirl, and plenty of women won't leave home without at least some lipstick or mascara.

In a survey, two-thirds of British women said that heading to the office bare-faced caused them more stress than public speaking, going on a first date or enduring a job interview. 91 percent of women surveyed would rather cancel a first date altogether than go without makeup on. And in the U.S., women spend around $7 billion on cosmetics every year.

And that doesn't even include hair. The AP recently reported that in 1950, about seven percent of women dyed their hair. Today? 95 percent or more.

With all that beauty-obsession (and our own love of makeup) in mind, we're taking a look at This Week In Beauty. From this week forward, we'll be showcasing the best, worst and most interesting styles of hair, makeup and nails that we came across this week. Take a look, get inspired and vote for your faves!

  • BEST: Kate Beckinsale

Can Kate Beckinsale ever look less-than-perfect? The answer is no. She looked absolutely stunning at the German premiere of 'Total Recall' on August 13, wearing a white, floor-length gown and an elegant, loose up-do. Beckinsale knows her beauty look well: natural with tones of pink and bronze, but with a sultry smokey eye. (Getty photo)

  • WORST: Lindsay Lohan

We <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/14/lindsay-lohan-makeup-lipstick-photos-pictures-2012_n_1775021.html" target="_hplink">cringed at the sight of Lindsay Lohan's beauty look</a> at will.i.am's album wrap party in Hollywood on August 13th. The young actress's overly contoured cheeks, bubblegum pink lipstick that didn't stay on her lips and pink eye shadow was all, just too much. Not to mention her oily-looking hair and too-dark lashes. Yikes! (Getty photo)

  • BEST: Nicole Scherzinger

Former Pussycat Doll singer Nicole Scherzinger looked as sultry as ever at the 'X Factor' launch on August 16th. Scherzinger looked great in a white ensemble and long, dark locks, while she rocked a bronze, smoky eye with glossy, nude lips. (Getty photo)

  • WORST: Kate Upton

The usually skin-baring model graced the red carpet at the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 launch on August 15th looking surprisingly demure. Although we liked the softer look on Upton, we didn't like her hair, which was an attempt at a sophisticated up-do but ended up <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/16/kate-upton-red-carpet_n_1788382.html?utm_hp_ref=style" target="_hplink">stepping into Kate Gosselin territory</a>...and that's never good. (Getty photo)

  • BEST: Miranda Kerr

Ok, so Miranda Kerr never looks bad. NEVER. The David Jones fashion show in Australia on August 14th was no exception. The impossibly goddess-like model rocked a very girl-next-door look, with wavy-ish hair and a sweet pink lip. How does she do it?! (Getty photo)

  • WORST: Queen Latifa

We love Queen Latifa--we're huge fans of the Covergirl--but we didn't love her look at the CW celebration of 'The Next' and Joe Jonas's birthday on August 15th. Her lack of eye makeup made her eyes look very small and she didn't have any lip color. We would have liked to see at least a burst of pink! (Getty photo)

  • BEST: Selita Ebanks

When you don't want to wear a lot of eye makeup, go with a darker, pop of lip color. Selita Ebanks knows this and worked it at a Clos Du Bois celebration on Aug 15th in New York City. Not only did the model choose to don her naturally curly locks (which we love) she went with a toned down look that screamed chic, urban fashionista. (Getty photo)

  • WORST: Christina Aguilera

Christina Aguilera finally decided to try the purple ombre look...seems a little old to us already but, whatever. <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/13/christina-aguilera-ombre-hair-purple-the-voice_n_1772463.html" target="_hplink">The singer was at a press junket for 'The Voice,'</a> looking as fake-tanned as usual. We'd like to see Christina in a more natural look: less tan and more color...in the right places. (Getty photo)

  • BEST: Gabby Douglas

While the gymnast was out winning gold medals at the Olympics, Twitter was abuzz with a debate about Douglas's hair. What?! The teen champion waved off the negative comments about her 'messy bun,' and now has a hair stylist. Whether or not she needs it is up to you--we don't think so--either way, she looked totally gorge at the 'America's Got Talent' post show red carpet on August 15th. (Getty photo)

  • WORST: Jessica Biel

This one was a toughie. We weren't sure if Jessica Biel looked ethereal at the Berlin photocall of 'Total Recall' or if she looked...birdlike. The problem was her hair. It was a combination of a classic up-do and a pixie cut à la Jaime Lee Curtis. We didn't like it. (Getty photo)
