Kanye West is joining the long list of stars reportedly in talks to judge the next season of "American Idol."
TMZ is reporting that sources close to the production say "Idol" execs have reached out to West to join the judging panel for Season 12 and he "expressed interest."
But "he's on the fence," an insider told TMZ because West is not sure if "Idol" is in his wheelhouse. Could money sweeten the pot? Sources told TMZ that "Idol" would at least match new judge Mariah Carey's $18 million salary for West.
West is not the only hip-hop artist who's joined the rumored list of "American Idol" Season 12 judges -- Nicki Minaj's name was thrown into the ring earlier this week, though neither her reps nor the show confirmed the reports.
Two seats were left vacant on the "American Idol" judging panel when Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez announced their back-to-back "Idol" departures in July. Reports also surfaced that Randy Jackson -- the only original "American Idol" judge still standing -- will be moving on to a mentor role on the show.
At the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, "Idol" executive producer Nigel Lythgoe said that he'd like to see the judges change every season.
