In recent months, Oprah Winfrey has landed big interviews with the likes of Lady Gaga, Bobbi Kristina, The Kardashians, and Rihanna as part of her network’s ā€œNext Chapterā€ series. But one big name viewers aren't likely to see on the show is Lauryn Hill.

On Monday a Twitter follower asked the media maven to ā€œGet Lauryn Hill on your show ASAP.ā€ Winfrey's response: "Tried. She said no."

Winfrey’s request may have been a little inconvenient for the eight-time Grammy Award winner, who has been dealing with a slew of tax issues with the Internal Revenue Service. In spite of pleading guilty to not paying $1.5 million in federal taxes over the course of three years, Hill's tax woes in her home state of New Jersey have just gotten worse.

According to TMZ, the state is now alleging that Hill failed to fork over $446,386 in unpaid taxes. In June, the reclusive star responded to the tax evasion charges on her Tumblr site stating;

"For the past several years, I have remained what others would consider underground. I did this in order to build a community of people, like-minded in their desire for freedom and the right to pursue their goals and lives without being manipulated and controlled by a media protected military industrial complex with a completely different agenda."

Hill is currently out on bail for her federal tax case. She is scheduled for a November hearing, and faces up to three years in prison if convicted.
