Known for his portrayal of "Childrens Hospital" funnyman Dr. Owen Maestro, Rob Huebel once had his heart set on a very different kind of role.

In a recent interview with Splitsider, the comedian admitted he was dying to play Don Draper on "Mad Men."

"I got all dressed up and wore a suit and went in," Huebel said. "I left there, thinking that I really nailed it. I was really like, 'Look out! Here comes Don Draper!' And then I never heard anything, never heard anything, never heard anything. And I thought, ‘Well, I’m sure that show got cancelled. Never even got off the ground. Bunch of dicks, they should have cast me. Serves them right.’

"Then, of course, it came on with Jon Hamm, and I was like, 'Oh! Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah. He’s way better. Yeah, he should do that.' Because he’s so great in it. He really is that guy. I’m not sure that I could have -- he’s so handsome. I think I would have been too intimidated to be married to January Jones."

Interestingly enough, Don Draper himself is headed Huebel's way
: Jon Hamm will guest star on the upcoming season of "Childrens Hospital" as the institution's founder Arthur Childrens.

With any luck, Hamm will let Huebel borrow one of his Don Draper suits.

"Childrens Hospital" returns on Friday, Aug. 24 at 12 a.m. ET on Adult Swim.

Season 5, Episode 1: "A Little Kiss"
