A new red band trailer for director John Hillcoat's "Lawless" is out, and it's a beauty.
The gritty film sets Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, Jessica Chastain, Guy Pearce, Jason Clarke and Mia Wasikowska in a Prohibition-era tale of bootlegging and all the consequences that come with it. LaBeouf, Hardy and Clarke play the Bondurant brothers, whose bootlegging business is threatened by corrupt authorities.
Between the promotional work for "The Master" and "Lawless" (earlier trailer here), The Weinstein Company has shown its ability to churn out compelling, extremely well-paced trailers. This new spot begins with a brooding shot of a man who has been tarred-and-feathered before moving to to the rest of the cast. Watch the video above, but be warned, there are some NSFW moments.
Nick Cave wrote the script, which is based on The Wettest Country in the World, a novel by Matt Bondurant. "Lawless" is due in theaters August 31st.
