Megan Lochte, Ryan Lochte's Sister, Made Racist Jokes After 2008 Beijing Olympics [UPDATED] (VIDEO)

WATCH: Ryan Lochte's Sister Is Racist, Not Funny

Ryan Lochte does not possess rhetorical skills -- or acting skills or spelling skills -- on par with his prodigious talents in the pool. But the U.S. swimmer has never gone as far off the deep end as his sister, Megan, did during a racist talk show appearance after returning from the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

Asked about her visit to China, the very first thing that Megan says is "We were there for a little bit over a week. China was chinked out."

At this point in the video, unearthed by Jezebel, the host expresses what appears to be disbelief. Unperturbed, or perhaps thinking that she was genuinely funny, Megan continued, "Like it was totally like Chinese. Everything. Chinked. There was only chinks everywhere."

After failing to slow her racist ramble, the host of the show, Mickey Cucchiella, suggested that she stop using "that word."

"Chink? But.. but like it fits them because they're like chinks," she said, scrunching up her face and using a higher pitch to her voice for emphasis at the close of her explanation.

Before going on to compare drivers in China to ninjas and complain about the food, Megan explained the relation between the ethnic slur and the way "they take pictures of everything."

As was the case in 2008, Megan accompanied her brother to 2012 Olympics. While in London she was inaccurately tabbed as a love interest after the siblings were photographed during a night on the town. In its brief introduction to Megan Lochte after the tabloid mix-up, Buzzfeed noted that "She Was On A Talk Show (But It Doesn't Seem To Have Taken Off)." That talk show was called "Closing Time" and is where Megan dropped all this unfunny racism. A screengrab from the website of the apparently short-lived program based in Baltimore in the Buzzfeed story touts appearances by "the very funny Megan Lochte."

Um.. not so much.

In a profile of Lochte before the London Games, The New York Times briefly noted Locthe's older sister. According to the Times, the 27-year-old swam competitively as well.

“A lot of people, if they don’t know Ryan, they’d think this guy is a lazy slack-off. But that’s not really who he is," Megan told the Times about her brother.

With Megan having joined Ryan in Beijing and London -- and his mother being privy to all sorts of details about his love life -- there is no doubt that the Lochte family is close. Will Ryan have any comment on what his sister is really like now that this video is making its way around the Internet?

UPDATE 8/25 7:27 p.m. EST: Megan Lochte offered an apology on Saturday for her comments in the video above, sort of. In a statement to US Weekly, Lochte claims that the interview was a "skit" and that she was portraying a "character."

"I do see how it was highly offensive to the viewer," she conceded, before seeming to take credit for initiating a meaningful discussion about race. "But as seen by today's widespread outrage, it clearly did increase awareness of the ignorance of those who are racist."

Ultimately, Lochte seems to be largely apologizing that her attempt at outing racists -- through jokes and commentary that were themselves startlingly racist -- didn't come off as well as she had hoped.

What do you think? Do you believe that Megan was playing a character (that shared her name) in a skit (based on the actual Megan Lochte's trip to the Beijing Olympics) that just went too far? Was this merely an attempt at humor gone too far?
