Since entering the music world alongside his brothers during his early childhood, Michael Jackson has recorded countless hits that still resonate with music lovers across the world.

The King of Pop’s knack for being a trendsetter in pop culture has also inspired various artists to rework some of his material into new tracks.

Musical genius' come around once in a generation......MJ was a musical genius & innovator ... and covered two generations.............he changed music, he changed videos, he changed concerts, he changed dance......his music isnt just sampled ... its the foundation, inspiration & influence of most of the best pop music created since. So sad that a couple of money-hungry liars taking him to court, dragging his name through the mud and the media never allowing his obvious Not Guilty verdict to be a vindication together with Sony's non-support resulted in the world being deprived of a decade of music he no doubt would have produced otherwise - so sad that his murder further deprived us... who knows what we were deprived of or how much further he would have pushed & improved the boundaries of pop...........

The one thing about Michael that just amazes me is that he has so many generations of fans. I was and always have been a fan since I was 6 years old. Now, several generations later, he remained a legend. Our kids' kids are fans.

I don't think anyone could ever match that track record. Will the music today be remembered 30-40 years from now? Somehow I doubt it.

Talent of today doesn't go any further than learning how to work the auto-tune technology. You don't have to sing, read music, write relevant lyrics, or know how to play an instrument.

The last concert I attended with my family was Elton John back in '03. Sir Elton has been in the game since the late 1960s, but he can still pull in the crowd. There were so many kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids there, it looked like a big family reunion.

Only a true artist like Elton John can make old and young people get up and dance the way we did (I know I showed out during Crocodile Rock, lol). These people of today with the electronic singing, Hot 97 fights, and Twitter beefs WISH they had huge fan followings like the musical legends do.

geddy, what you just said! Many of them are clueless, but there are those young people who are discovering what we've been shouting about, and they LOVE IT. On youtube, many young people stated that they wish they had grown up during our generation. Don't even get me started with autotunes.

I actually love EJ, and was listening to "Benny and the Jets" just the other day. I remember being a kid rocking to that song. EJ is one of those rare musical talents that stay hot generation after generation. I love to see young people rocking to the music we grew up listening to.

Michael was just one year older than myself. So his passing was a very emotional time in my life. I grew up with the Jacksons and the Motown sound.  We go way back.

Add to that list of most sampled music, "Mr. P-Funk" George Clinton of Parliament Funkadelic.

James Brown, George Clinton and Michael Jackson make up the majority of all samples, hooks and beats throughout rap music and sadly rap artists never educated themselves & learned how to actually read, write, comprehend music or play various instruments that could extend their careers as they age in years.

How many people have sampled P/Funk music ! Jackson's music wasn't sample friendly per se but I guess when you can use someone else's music for your own gain its all good !

If BV did a series on the artists who've *sampled* Bootsy/George Clinton/P-Funk crowd, it would last a whole month. The editors and writers would seriously have to put in work to compile a list because so many singers from different genres have sampled the legends.

LOL ! No doubt ! I heard Ice Cube in an interview say if it wasn't for P/Funk, there would have been no West Coast gangsta rap because it was all patterned on P/Funk samples !
Dr. Dre said he created his G-Funk sound off of P/Funk !
