'Stolen Voices, Buried Secrets': Lula Young Murdered By Her Best Friend For The Insurance Money (VIDEO)

Murdered By Best Friend For The Money On 'Stolen Voices, Buried Secrets'

47-year old Lula Young was already battling cancer, but it was a fire in her home that took her life. Her story was revealed on "Stolen Voices, Buried Secrets" (Mon., 10 p.m. ET on ID). When investigators looked into it, they realized the fire had been set on purpose. But who would want to kill her?

Eventually, the trail led back to one of the most unlikeliest of culprits. It turns out Lula's best friend Linda Leedom was the beneficiary of Lula's life insurance policies. If Lula died from the cancer, or anything else natural, Linda would get nothing. But if it was an accident, she'd collect $1 million. So she hired a man to kill Lula.

"I felt the ultimate betrayal," Lula's daughter said. "My mother trusted Linda Leedum with her life, and that’s what it cost her."

Leedum was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the murder of her best friend.

True stories of shocking crimes unfold every week on "Stolen Voices, Buried Secrets," Mondays at 10 p.m. ET on ID.
