"Paranormal Witness" delved into the true(?) story behind an upcoming Hollywood horror film. Kyra Sedgwick and Jeffrey Dean Morgan star in Sam Raimi's "The Possession," which opened in theaters August 31, 2012.
The film is based on the story of the Dybbuk box, which is a relic that's reportedly been hidden away for seven years now. The box's current owner offered to give it to Raimi for the film, but the director was reportedly too afraid to use the real artifact in the film, according to Hollywood.com.
The story of the box unfolded on the episode, following it from owner to owner through reenactments. Each time the owners friends and families fell ill, their homes were invaded by bugs and they were even attacked by evil spirits in their sleep. The current owner tracked the box back to its original seller, where its secrets were revealed.
Apparently, the original owner had trapped a Dybbuk, a dark and evil demon, within the box. After hearing this tale, the current owner then hid the box away. Since then, there have been no more incidents.
"Paranormal Witness" has been picked up for a third season, but for now continues Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET on Syfy.
