Gold Rush-era Victorians, midcentury classics, modern marvels that defy the carbon footprint: When it comes to unbelievable architecture, San Francisco is hard to beat.

Celebrating our stylish history: the ninth annual Architecture and the City Festival, running all month long.

Presented by the American Institute of Architects, San Francisco Chapter, the festival offers a series of tours, films, exhibitions, workshops and parties, giving design junkies a behind-the-scenes look at the city's most interesting spaces.

Tour the Angel Island Immigration Station, take a bridge-to-bridge boat tour, party with GOOD Design and step inside the coolest houses in San Francisco during the 2012 Home Tours.

Check out a few of the homes featured in the home tours in our slideshow below, courtesy of the American Institute of Architects.
