Jeans are a wardrobe staple, that's for sure. Skinny jeans have had their moment in the sun for the past few years. In fact, we recently worked with an editor who told us that she wears them "like it's nobody's business." We've also seen celebrities rock out in colored jeans (Jessica Alba's closet must be a veritable rainbow of denim). And this summer, we've all bared our ankles in cropped styles.
But one silhouette that we haven't seen in a while is the flare. Typically fitted through the hips and thighs, and then flared out from the knee until they skim the ground, those erstwhile reminders of days gone by have remained in the past. No doubt, there are a few die-hards who live for bell-bottoms -- Rachel Zoe comes to mind -- but for the most part we've vacillated between cut-off-your-circulation skinnies to super-slouchy boyfriend jeans.
Recently, we spotted Kate Moss out and about in a pair of flared jeans that had us wondering if the style is due for a comeback. The style icon could make just about anything look chic (Hunter Wellies boomed after she was spotted in them in 2005 year at Glastonbury), so we're considering channeling our inner Mick Jagger and shimmying into a pair.
