The creators of the Lowline, an exciting project that hopes to bring an underground park to an abandoned railway in the Lower East Side, have organized a full-scale, public exhibition providing a glimpse at the Lowline's progress and technological proposals.

The exhibition titled "Imagining the Lowline" will take place at an abandoned warehouse just above the proposed subterranean space and seeks to help supporters envision the park's ambitious goals. The event details:

The “Imagining the Lowline” exhibit will feature the installation of a solar collector, a canopy distributor, and a small-scale green park to help the community envision the technology and its stunning aesthetic elements.

In March, the Lowline successfully raised more than $125,000 in donations thanks to a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the project's sunlight technology.

Since then, creators Dan Barasch and James Ramsey have received some major support, as demonstrated by the upcoming exhibition's partners Audi and Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture.

Despite the excitement however, many including parks advocate Geoffrey Croft question the Lowline's price tag. Croft said, "I think they [creators] may have a tougher time trying to raise the money needed to build something like this, because I don’t know if there will be as much of an immediate impact. It’ll definitely be a unique space, but I think they’re going to have a tougher time convincing the powers that be that this will be a worthwhile investment.”

"Imagining the Lowline" is free and open to the public starting September 15th and will run till September 27th. RSVP here.
