DeWayne Wise Pitching: White Sox Outfielder Takes The Mound Against Twins (VIDEO)

WATCH: White Sox Outfielder Pitchers Scoreless Ninth Inning

DeWayne Wise has had a pretty eventful summer.

In addition to benefitting from one of the worst blown calls by an MLB official this year, the reserve outfielder unexpectedly took the mound for the second time this season on Tuesday night.

White Sox manager Robin Ventura called on Wise to man the hill during the ninth inning as Chicago trailed Minnesota 18-8. The 34-year-old journeyman, who was released by the Yankees and picked up by the White Sox after the All-Star break, faced four batters while allowing a walk and inducing a double play in front of a depleted crowd at U.S. Cellular Field.

Not bad for a position player who has only pitched twice in the majors.

Ironically, Wise's pitching debut in June came against his current team when the White Sox played the Yankees in New York.

Perhaps Ventura was doing a little scouting for his club?
