Ray Romano is joining the cast of "Parenthood" this season for a recurring guest role. His first appearance will be in the September 11 premiere, where he'll probably start making this more complicated for Lauren Graham's Sarah and Mark (Jason Ritter). Graham said on "Conan" that things were almost as awkward for her and Romano in person as well.
She said their meeting was like bringing the two people with the lowest self-esteem in the universe together. As an example, she talked about a party Romano threw at his house for his new castmates.
When he invited her, it went something like this, according to Graham: "You probably can’t come. I invited you too late. You don’t want to drive all the way out there."
But her response was just as filled with self-doubt. "Oh, thanks! But you don’t have to invite me, just ‘cuz you invited the other people. You probably have a lot of other friends."
Hopefully things will be a little more upbeat and positive when the two meet up in the "Parenthood" season premiere, Tuesday, September 11 at 10 p.m. ET on NBC. "Conan" airs weeknights at 11 p.m. ET on TBS.
