Poetry slam artist Carlos Andrés Gómez explores the historical perspective around why people should vote in a new video for Our Time.

"Nothing makes you angrier than not being heard," Gómez says at the start of the video. He goes on to explore the history of voting rights, touching on Alice Paul's protests and Jim Crow laws.

"If you don't speak up when it matters, you are as good as invisible," Gómez says.
