Drew Carey feels "really bad" that Bob Barker wasn't invited to appear on Tuesday's "The Price Is Right" 40th Anniversary Special. But he insisted in an interview with TMZ that the snub was unintentional and not the result of a feud between the show and its former host of 35 years.
"It wasn't because of animosity or anything like that ... nobody has anything against him ... it just didn't occur to anybody to invite him personally to be on the show because it was a salute to contestants," Carey told TMZ. "Everybody loves Bob Barker."
Barker spoke out about not being invited to the special in an interview with the AP on Tuesday, saying the show's producers "chose to ignore me, which is fine," while also noting that, "They haven't even offered me a DVD."
Barker believes he wasn't invited to the special because he has criticized the show for offering trips to Sea World and the Calgary Stampede as prizes. The former host has long been an outspoken advocate for animal rights, and famously ended every show by urging viewers to "Help control the pet population: Have your pets spayed or neutered."
