Jennifer Granholm DNC Speech: Former Michigan Governor Gives Animated Performance (GIF)

Former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm gave a loud, animated performance on Thursday night, the final night of the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C.

Her speech, like many at the convention, was a harsh attack on Mitt Romney.

"How did he make that fortune? And at whose expense? You know too often he made it at the expense of middle-class Americans," she said. "Year after year, it was profits before people."

Jennifer Granholm, a Canadian, failed to mention that the automobiles, that put all those people to work, were purchased by the government. 75% of them to be exact. So, it was a false recovery. After she finished her stint as governor in MI, she moved to California!!! Our state is 49th economically. She put our state in the first economic recession in history.

I like Granholm, but have to say her speech was very odd...It actually made me laugh...either she was super enthusiastic or something else was stimulating her...she didn't even look like herself...

In your ear. She gave 100,000 laid-off workers money to retrain, and she has a heart as big as her speech. She should have kicked Bishop and his obstructionist GOP Senate to the curb. They stood in the way of everything she tried to do. Now these yahoos want to pass legislation requiring a 2/3 vote to raise taxes in MI. They want to turn us into CA. and rule from the grave. They have a huge problem with democracy, they want minority rule. I can't wait for Snyder and this bunch of religious zealots to get kicked out of office.

Granholm's speech was fantastic, and she did more for Michigan than Engler and Snyder put together. Maybe you would be more comfortable in Texas with the rest of the yahoos.

Granholm and Bishop may have had different party affiliations, but they couldn't have been more alike if they were identical twins. Neither of them could work with anybody, but they both could talk all day long about what they wanted to do.

Granholm was one disaster after another: you wouldn't know from her comments now that she and her husband badmouthed the Big 3 and praised Toyota and Honda; you wouldn't know while she accuses the Republicans of being anti-child that her own Department of Human Services lost track of foster children and didn't inspect some abuse reports; you certainly wouldn't know that her last major act as governor was to appoint union-busting Robert Bobb as emergency financial manager of the Detroit Public School district (Scott Walker has nothing on Jennifer Granholm).

And I could go on. Patrick Selepak, anybody? When Granholm couldn't balance the budget, her M.O. was to threaten to release violent criminals. That seemed to be the only place she could cut the budget.

She didn't give us leadership; whatever party you hail from, she was incompetent and disastrous.

It would be interesting to know how much you think high income earners should pay? Also, there are major problems with democracy. The U.S. has a Constiuttion because the Founders sensibly had concerns about the tyranny of the majority. Majorities really shouldn't be able to vote on everything. The alternative isin't minority rule but individual choice and voluntary co-operation.

I've seen MEN give this kind of speech before ie with this kind of energy and animation. When I was watching, I was proud to see a woman let loose like this.
