"Parental Guidance"; or Billy Crystal and Bette Midler in "Meet the Grandparents."
The holiday release stars the veteran comics as a married couple headed to their daughter's house to look after their grandchildren. Fish-out-of-water hijinks ensue, with conflict coming in the form of tough, old-world parenting techniques clashing with new-age niceties. (Marisa Tomei plays Crystal and Midler's onscreen daughter.)
The comedy was inspired by a visit Crystal had with his own grandchildren; he has a story credit on the film, which was written by Lisa Addario and Joy Syracuse (and reportedly given a rewrite treatment by "City Slickers" writers Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel).
"Parental Guidance" arrives in theaters on Dec. 25. Watch the trailer above.
