The fanfare of the opening week of the 2012 college football schedule has subsided. With a dominant 41-14 win over Michigan, Alabama leapfrogged USC -- also victorious but perhaps less impressively so -- to retake the catbird seat in the national rankings.

Despite what Nick Saban would have you believe, neither team faces -- on paper or in the papers -- a particularly daunting test in Week 2. While several of the teams currently rated in the AP Top 25 should be on upset alert this weekend (Georgia, we're looking your way), all ranked teams are playing unranked opponents.

But that doesn't mean that there aren't several compelling matchups.
