E.L. James' husband, Niall Leonard, was recently interviewed by CNN about his wife's hugely popular romance novel, "Fifty Shades of Grey," and his own forthcoming crime book, "Crusher," which goes on sale in Europe and Asia this week.

Although one might expect the pair of writers to live a wild, sexually-charged lifestyle, Leonard insists that they are, "mostly - for all intents and purposes - just a regular family," but he does compliment his wife's "amazing ability to flirt by e-mail."

He adds that he is, "really happy not to be Christian Grey, because that guy's a mess."

Leonard discussed the couple's two teenaged sons, stating that while they may sometimes be picked on due to their mother's novel, they are very proud of her work.

Leonard proofread "Fifty Shades of Grey," but avoided heavy editing, stating that he and his wife have completely different approaches to writing, and could "never work as a team."

When asked about the key to writing a bestselling book, Lenoard said, "you write what you believe in, you write what excites you, you write what makes you passionate." This formula certainly was a success for his wife.
