Man In Wheelchair Accused Of Rape

Two men, including one who is confined to a wheelchair, are accused of raping a cleaning woman.

Oklahoma City residents Archie Burch, 60 and Lavern Moaning, 57 were charged on Tuesday with forcible sodomy and rape by instrumentation, according to NewsOK. Burch is paralyzed from the waist down, according to KFOR.

The 22-year-old victim told police that Moaning pinned her down on the bed, while Burch removed her pants and underwear and "began kissing and touching her inappropriately." She said the men let her go when her cell phone rang and she told Burch and Moaning her friends were waiting to pick her up.

Oklahoma City Police Capt. Dexter Nelson told KFOR that it's out of the ordinary for a man with Burch's condition to be accused of rape.

"Apparently this gentleman’s paralyzed from the waist down, so it’s kind of unusual that he’d be involved in a rape or any crime for that matter,” Nelson said.

However, false rape accusations are rare, according to an FBI report that says only about 8 percent of rape claims are unfounded.

KOCO reports that the two men were sitting on the porch when police arrived. "She initiated it," Burch allegedly said. "She asked me for it."
