They always say if you can't find something, look in the fridge.

A missing Tulsa, Oklahoma woman was found Wednesday alive after spending five days in a deep freezer, KJRH reports.

Theresa Christian, 59, had not been seen or heard from since Saturday, her family says. Calling and knocking on her door produced no response, so family members had her apartment's maintenance crew let them in on Tuesday, but to no avail.

On Wednesday, however, her son, Jermal Stewart, returned to the apartment to search again, and this time he heard his mother's faint cries for help.

"She was in the closet, in the kitchen, in the deep freezer, and I opened the door and she was sitting in there," Stewart said.

Police say Christian possibly climbed into the freezer in response to Saturday's storms, trying to protect herself from a possible tornado.

William Andy Jr., another of Christian's sons, told Fox 23 that his mother had spoken about a tornado on Saturday.

"She's on a lot of medication and was probably over-medicated and climbed into the freezer," Andy said.

There is evidence that Christian attempted to get out of the freezer, but was unable to get the door open, according to the cops.

Christian had severe frostbite on her legs and is considered in serious condition, but officials say she is expected to survive, KTUL reports.
