'Alphas' Clash As They Face A New Danger (EXCLUSIVE VIDEO)

New 'Alphas' Recruit Clashes With The Team

Monday's episode of Syfy's "Alphas" is a good one.

There are a few reasons. Reason 1: Kat (Erin Way), who's been hanging around the Alphas team for a while now, gets a lot to do in this episode. As you can see from the exclusive clip here, this week Kat runs into resistance from Bill (Malik Yoba) and Gary (Ryan Cartwright), but her skills prove crucial to an Alphas mission involving a dangerous new drug. Gary doesn't like Kat much, and if you need another reason to watch the clip, just do so to see another half-dozen of Cartwright's brilliant line deliveries.

Reason 2: You may be wondering if the show will follow up on last week's cliffhanger. The answer is: Definitely. Dr. Rosen (David Strathairn) pursues his suspicions about the mole who's informing Stanton Parish of the team's activities, and that story line gives Strathairn plenty of good material. Any episode that gives Strathairn a lot of emotional dilemmas is generally a good hour.

Given that the fall season is bearing down on us, I don't have a lot of time to write an in-depth piece about the current season (though is there anyone who doesn't want more Bill-Gary interaction? I always want more of that). But I did delineate my current "Alphas" likes and dislikes in the most recent Talking TV podcast, which you can find here, on iTunes and below.

Sound off about Season 2 of "Alphas" in comments. What are you enjoying -- or not -- about the show's second year?

Alphas airs 8 p.m. ET Mondays on Syfy.
