Barbra Streisand is now officially the highest-priced touring act of all time, charging fans as much as $1,500 (plus a service fee of $75) for a single ticket to see her perform live when she returns to Brooklyn at the Barclays Center on Oct. 11 and 13.

Already one of the best-selling female artists of all time, Streisand isn’t shy about her worth -- and fans apparently agree. With many dates on her latest tour sold out, tickets from resellers and scalpers are going for as much as $12,867 on one eBay listing.

Insiders say Streisand's drawing power is exceptional. "She has been credited with shattering the glass ceiling before," says Ray Waddell, senior editor of touring at Billboard magazine. Waddell notes that before Streisand's last national tour in 1994, "Tickets were rarely more than $100. After that, the floodgates opened."

So, what happened?

"Streisand isn't an artist that goes on the road all the time. In fact, seeing her perform live is a very, very rare thing. I can't think of another artist that could sell tickets at a price like this -- maybe if Elvis came back from the dead. What's the most amazing thing is she doesn't care. Her attitude is, 'If you want to hear me sing, pay up,'" one tour promoter tells me.

It should be noted that proceeds from the tour will go to charities supported by the Streisand Foundation.

In an email confirming that I could purchase two tickets for the Brooklyn concert, I was also asked for my FedEx number so I could be charged when they were sent. I'm verklempt.

CORRECTION: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that Streisand's last tour was in 1994 and that top prices were around $100. Additional information has been inserted to provide further context for Streisand's ticket history.
