Regis Philbin On 'Rachael Ray': Former 'Live!' Host Announces New Monthly Gig

Regis Philbin Returns To Daytime

Regis Philbin is coming back to daytime. The former "Live!" host will be a recurring guest on Rachael Ray's show, it was announced Tuesday.

"I can't tell you how excited I am that Regis will be a recurring special guest on our show this season," Ray said in a statement. "Regis has been a close friend of the show and a close friend of mine for years and it'll be a blast having him on the team."

Philbin will appear alongside Ray for the entire hour once a month. He starts the new gig next Monday. In a new interview with USA Today, he said that he couldn't pass up the opportunity. "I'm not gonna say I don't want to do your show!" he said. "I think it's fun. I spent my whole life doing this."

Philbin insisted that he was not retiring when he left "Live!" after 28 years last fall. At the time, there was speculation that he might do a reality show, which never panned out. Since then, he has been back on TV several times — guest-hosting "The View," filling in for Piers Morgan and playing Betty White's love interest.
