Just as Leslie Knope tries to embody the fabled "good old days" of politics on "Parks & Recreation," Amy Poehler was reminiscent of those same glory days on classic talk shows. On "The Tonight Show," she recalled when it was commonplace to see guests drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes during their promotional appearances.
“If a guest wants to light up a cigarette, we have to call a fire marshal," Jay Leno quipped.
Nevertheless, he promised to make her dreams of times gone by into a reality after the next commercial break. Sure enough, when the show came back, there was Amy Poehler lighting up, drink at the ready.
"Oh, God. This is terrible. This tastes terrible," Poehler decided of her cigarette. Okay, so it wasn't exactly like the golden age of television, but it was classic entertainment.
Amy Poehler returns with "Parks & Recreation, Thursday night at 9:30 p.m. ET on NBC. "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" can be seen every weeknight at 11:35 p.m. ET on NBC.
