Mitt Romney At 17: Images Show GOP Candidate At 1964 Republican Convention (PHOTOS)

Photos of a 17-year-old Mitt Romney have been unearthed from the photo archive of the San Francisco Chronicle.

The photos show Romney at the 1964 Republican convention in San Francisco. Romney, a high school senior at the time, was touring San Francisco with his father, then-Michigan Governor George Romney.

Peter Hartlaub, the Chronicle's pop culture critic, posted the photos on his blog Thursday.

Just checked my inbox from Sep 24... I had 14. Most tried to make points asking me to state my facts and references when the original intent was to open up a discussion. Only 1 poster "libbysue" included links to support their opinions...and I truly appreciate it. I want to thank her for the links as well as the way she presented her case.

Just about every response attempted to attack me personally whether they had an opinion on the topics I listed or not. Most were also condescending. I never once said I was a Republican or even watched Fox News...though those seemed to be the real "talking points". One responder even pleaded with me to smoke marijuana because I was too strung out. Well, I am strung out, and I can't figure out with everything going on in this country why anyone wouldn't be. Maybe the problem is too many people are smoking already.

Originally, I wrote expecting feedback and a fruitful discussion. Ironically, it is these kinds of responses that are turning people away...yet some of my responders said they couldn't figure out why.

HINT: You won't win any independents by insulting or condescending to them.

I believe the current poll trends reflect this effect. As for the 80% of negative, personal attacks on my post...I expect more from you intelligent, grownups as well as the moderator in discerning what should show up. This is the Huffington Post after all...I didn't really expect literal "Huffing" and "Puffing" to be the standard.

Now I've seen all the negative ads against Romney, and I also watched the 3 debates so far... I've heard about offshore bank accounts and tax evasion, but there are no facts to back that up. I think the IRS would have busted his ___ already if that were true. So what if Romney pays 15% on his taxes? He gives several millions away each year, and I'd pay that % too if I could. I'm under the impression that no matter how much money we give the government, they will find a way to spend it...and then some to boot. Prove me wrong with trillion dollar deficits each year. But how do I REALLY feel? Let me dumb it down for you: "If-you-don't-trust-me-with-my money ... why-should-I-trust-you-with-my country?"

They guy is a stud. He has looks, smarts and the blood lines. Elect him President and with 1 year the economy will be turned around, there will be immigration and tax reform, our credit rating will improve, the deficit will come down and the future of our children will be in much better shape.

Elect Obama and you will get 4 more years of incompetence and corruption and blame others.
