Ichiro has been on fire as of late -- hitting .522 in the last seven days -- and has provided a much-needed spark for the Yankees who won their sixth straight game Friday night. It certainly helps when he manages to get singles like he did in the first contest of a three-game series against Oakland.
In the bottom of the third inning, Ichiro chopped one right up the middle and straight at A's pitcher Jarrod Parker. But Parker wasn't able to make the play as the ball somehow made its way into his shirt. He frantically tried to pull the ball out of his uniform but Ichiro reached first base before he could get a hold of it.
Fortunately for Parker, the unlucky hit allowed didn't turn into a run. But the Yankees were able to get the win with Russell Martin's walk-off homer in the 10th.
