So when she stepped out on tonight to chat with E!'s Ryan Seacrest, we held our breathe... and then exhaled in partial relief. Her new 'do, a trendy pixie cut, looked perfectly coiffed -- super chic. Her makeup was all smoky eyes and nude lips, which never gets old. And her Prada dress... well, that's where we ran into troubles.
The gunmetal gray was sophisticated as was the lace. But there was something about the high-waisted cut that struck us as unflattering. We've all seen Lena naked so we know there's a great body hiding under there somewhere.
Check out Lena's outfit for her big Emmys debut. Do you love it or loathe it?

Critical darling and comedy wunderkind Lena Dunham plans to extend her pop-culture reach beyond television and indie film with a book preliminary titled Not That Kind of Girl: Advice by Lena Dunham.
I'm really having trouble with how shallow, cruel, unfeminist and criticising basically *everyone* here seems to be about this. This is the Huffington Post, guys; we're supposed to be BETTER than this. Please, leave the woman-hatew and body-shame to Fox News and the Daily Mail.

Lena Dunham is an awful looking woman. When you call awkwardness beauty you dilute beauty and obfuscate the meaning of language itself. Give me clarity rather than plump body lines. Give me truth rather than a fake redefinition of ugliness. Give me a break. Give me a refuge from the Lena Dunham's of the world and her long term predecessor--Dustin Hoffman.

I like that she's not a size 0 stick like most actresses are - I"m really, really happy to see a 'normal' girl on TV. However, that dress is not flattering to her body in any way (I'd dare say it wouldn't look flattering on most figures, either). A lot of the clothes she wears on the show are poorly cut, ill fitting for her figure.

How to save the dress: Make it a pencil skirt, lose the sleeves or make them capped, make the neck a wider /lower scoop or a ballet neck with a v-back. Put some definition in the waist. Her hair and makeup are nice, the dress is a hideous bathrobe.

In pictures of my mother and father's 1950 wedding my grandmother (MOB) wore a dress exactly like this. She was adorable but not known for chic couture. At least Lena left off the flowered hat.
