Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is back in town for the 67th session of the U.N. General Assembly in New York. On Monday, the Iranian president spoke out on Iran's nuclear program -- one of the major topics at this year's meetings -- claiming Iran is "ready for dialogue."
"The nuclear issue is not a problem. But the approach of the United States on Iran is important. We are ready for dialogue, for a fundamental resolution of the problems, but under conditions that are based on fairness and mutual respect," he said, according to Reuters.
Ahmadinejad is set to speak at the U.N. General Assembly on Wednesday.
Known for his inflammatory remarks, Ahmadinejad's past hits include calling the Holocaust a lie used by Israel and claiming that the U.S. government was behind the September 11th terrorist attacks.
U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, for his part, has warned Ahmadinejad to keep the incendiary comments to a minimum this year. During a meeting on Sunday, Ban warned Ahmadinejad to cool his rhetoric.
"The secretary-general drew attention to the potentially harmful consequences of inflammatory rhetoric, counter-rhetoric and threats from various countries in the Middle East," the Secretary General's office said, according to Reuters.
CBS 2 reported Saturday the Iranian president has put himself up in the Warwick Hotel on West 54th St. in Manhattan. Demonstrators gathered a block away to protest against the Warwick for doing business with Ahmadinejad, however later reports suggested he may not be staying there after all.
