A Connecticut man has been jailed for allegedly stomping on and breaking the leg of a 3-year-old girl.
Monserate Perez, 53, is also charged with hitting his girlfriend, the New York Daily News reports. West Haven police say Perez hit the woman on Thursday morning, and she said she would to call the cops.
In response, Perez allegedly went over to his girlfriend's daughter, who was playing with toys on the floor, jumped on her leg and broke it.
The woman, arms bruised, brought her daughter to the hospital and told staff that the girl had fallen. Doctors, however, found the toddler's injuries to be inconsistent with a fall. Believing the girl's leg was broken intentionally, they called authorities.
When police arrived, Perez's girlfriend identified him as the attacker.
Perez turned himself in that night, according to WFSB. He is charged with multiple counts of assault and risk of injury to a child.
CBS reports that the 3-year-old was treated for a severe leg injury.
