Ridiculously Sexy Russian Soprano Kicks Off Met's Season

Sexy Russian soprano Anna Netrebko is set to headline her second consecutive season opening gala at the Metropolitan Opera tonight. She will debut as Adina in Bartlett Sher's staging of L'elisir d'Amore.

Netrebko opened last year's Met season in the title role of Donizetti's Anna Bolena, which The New York Times described as "the defining moment of her career." Later this year, she will perform Tchaikovsky's "Iolanta," followed by two debut performances in "Eugene Onegin" and "Le nozze di Figaro" next spring.

Tonight's season-opening performance will be transmitted live starting at 7pm on open-air screens at both Lincoln Center and Times Square, broadcast on Metropolitan Opera Radio on SiriusXM, and streamed live on the Met’s website. In addition, on Saturday, October 13th, the production will launch the 2012-13 “The Met: Live in HD” series at participating movie theaters around the world.
