Seaman paired up with storm chasers to capture these images that at times were 50 miles wide and 65,000 feet high, as part of her focus on nature and the human environment.

"In my continuation of exploring subjects in nature that have an ability to illustrate the interconnection of all life on earth, I found myself stalking a type of single giant cloud called a supercell," Seaman said to DesignBoom. "There is definitely some luck involved, and skill on the part of the forecaster and navigator. All I can do is make sure I am ready for the few moments I have."

Photos of thunderstorms, hurricanes, tornadoes and other natural phenomena have long captured the attention of American audiences. Check out our audience's submissions from tropical storm Isaac.
