When the Big Day finally arrives, all the bridesmaids put on their dresses and shoes and head for the...finish line?

Instead of heading down the aisle, hundreds of Boston women donned bridesmaid dresses to run a mile for charity in Boston.com's annual Running with the Bridesmaids event on Saturday.

The event's website says it's a fun run for "a good cause with a bad dress code." All the proceeds from the one-mile run go to Boston's Big Sister Association. Watch the video above to see women race through Boston in sneakers and chiffon!

This isn't the first time women have donned their bridal wear for a run. In July, Serbian brides took to the streets in gowns and running shoes to attempt to win the wedding of their dreams. Click through the slideshow below to see photos from that event.
