Nancy Pelosi Leads Zombies, Tries to Sacrifice Lamb In New Attack Ad

WASHINGTON -- The Republican challenger to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) may not stand a chance of defeating her in November, but his campaign certainly gets points for creativity.

John Dennis, the House Republican candidate hoping to unseat Pelosi, released a new ad on Monday that depicts her as the leader of a zombie army preparing to sacrifice a lamb that, according to Dennis, is a metaphor for his candidacy.

The ad, titled "Night of the Living Pelosi," opens with a scene in a dungeon filled with zombies chanting "Pelosi" as they prepare to sacrifice a lamb. Fanning herself with a copy of the Constitution, a woman impersonating Pelosi shouts to her half-dead followers, "We must first gut the sacrifice so that you can find out what is in the sacrifice!" The line is a reference to a comment Pelosi made during the 2010 debate on health care reform, "We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it."

As a zombie raises a knife over the lamb, Dennis enters and brings the ceremony to a halt.

"Dang!" says Pelosi.

"John Dennis!" says one of the zombies.

"Arrarrr ararr?" says another zombie.

Dennis proceeds to criticize Pelosi on a number of policy fronts: he accuses her of burying the nation in debt, strangling job creation and supporting indefinite detention of suspected American terrorists.

The zombies start applauding Dennis, who turns to the camera and says, "I am John Dennis and I approve this message."

The ad ends with Dennis walking outside as the sun sets in the background, rock music now playing. The lamb runs just ahead of him.

"There are some fights that need to be fought, no matter what the odds," Dennis says. "Help me to beat Nancy Pelosi. Help us to win."

The reality, though, is that California's 8th District is a safely Democratic seat. Pelosi trounced Dennis in 2010, winning 80 percent of the vote to Dennis' 15 percent.

A Pelosi spokesman did not respond to a request for comment.
