AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — Auburn wide receiver Quan Bray has been suspended following his arrest in Georgia, Tigers coach Gene Chizik said Sunday.

Bray won't play Saturday against Arkansas, and Chizik hasn't determined how long the suspension will last.

Bray was arrested Thursday night during a traffic stop on the University of West Georgia campus. He was stopped for playing loud music, police said, and officers realized he was driving on a limited permit. They found an open bottle of alcohol in the car.

Police said Bray hadn't been drinking. Chizik praised Bray for his character and strength after Bray's father, Jeffery Jones, was accused of shooting and killing the player's mother, Tonya Bray, in July 2011.

"He's been a great teammate, he's been an honor roll student. I'm proud of the way, in the last year and a half, he's carried himself and the way he's overcome a lot of adversity," Chizik said. "I'll let you know when he'll be back on the field, but it certainly won't be against Arkansas."

Bray faces charges of loud music and possession of alcohol under 21, as well as a driver's permit violation.

Bray is Auburn's third-leading receiver with 11 catches for 82 yards. Trovon Reed will likely replace him in the starting lineup.

The status of the case against Jeffrey Jones was not immediately clear late Sunday.
