"A Clockwork Orange" is a unique novel that, thanks to Stanley Kubrick's 1971 film, has become a fundamental cultural touchstone. Written in the imagined youthful language of Nadsat, it touches on teenage violence and questions of free will.

The book was published fifty years ago, and to celebrate the fact, a new edition of the book has been published and the International Anthony Burgess Foundation in Manchester, UK has put together a slideshow of remarkable international covers from the book's past half century.
