Lincoln Park Victorian Home With Gorgeous Features, Lurid History Hits The Market (PHOTOS)

It is rare that a Chicago property appeals equally to fans of flawlessly stylish real estate and criminal history -- but a newly-listed Victorian in Lincoln Park somehow manages to accomplish both.

This five-bedroom, three-bathroom property, located at 632 W. Belden Ave., was built in 1875 and, in addition to being the "grandest of the dames," has quite the past: The mini-mansion was formerly owned by the violent gangster and "gambling czar" Jacob "Mont" Tennes.

As the Chicago Crime Scenes Project notes, the home (pictured here in 1907) was targeted in a bombing in 1907, blowing out all the windows of the home as well as many of his neighbors'. The incident was just one of many area bombings targeting gambling honchos.

More than a century later, it would be difficult to glean anything untoward from the immaculate property. It comes equipped with a wraparound porch, live-in greenhouse kitchen, three fireplaces, high ceilings and a coach house with its own 2-car garage.

The price tag? $2.75 million.
