Long-distance relationships often prove impossible, and only four short episodes into its new season, almost everybody was realizing it on "Glee." The three power couples of the McKinley High glee club were Rachel and Finn, Kurt and Blaine and Santana and Brittany (with apologies to Tina and Mike). Most of those couples saw one person graduate at the end of last season, a devastating hit to a high school relationship.

Each story was different, and handled beautifully through the music, according to Zap2It. Rachel and Finn's break-up seemed almost inevitable as she moves on with her life, and he's just not sure where his is going.

Santana pulled the plug on her relationship because she knew long-distance relationships were nearly impossible to pull off, and she could already feel herself succumbing to temptation. Blaine, on the other hand, did succumb. And while he and Kurt didn't officially break up, neither did they talk about where things stood.

And then there was Emma and Will. Finally, Will has a chance to fulfill one of his dreams, but it will take him away from the school for a few months. He simply assumed his fiancee would go with him, but Emma wasn't ready to leave her job like that. This isn't likely a deal-breaker for them, but it was another couple in jeopardy.

Watch the aftermath of all the heartbreak as "Glee" continues on Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.
