When stand-up comedian Tig Notaro performed at the Los Angeles club Largo in August, she brought the audience to tears with a confessional, poignant and very funny set that informed them of her recent breast cancer diagnosis. (Tig is currently cancer-free, as she recently announced on the latest episode of her podcast Professor Blastoff.) A blogger recapped what happened at the Largo show, writing that the audience was "made witness to a truly historical moment in comedy, by one of the industry of comedy's absolute greatest."
Louis C.K. seemed to agree. He was a special guest at the show that night, and after the show, tweeted the following: "in 27 years doing this, I've seen a handful of truly great, masterful standup sets. One was Tig Notaro last night at Largo."
Today, the public can listen to Notaro's set at Largo through Louis C.K.'s website. Releasing the set through the same means he revolutionized selling comedy albums -- for a mere $5, free of corporate interference -- C.K. is bringing the now-infamous set, simply called "Tig Notaro Live," to the masses starting today.
The set will be available exclusively through LouisCK.net for now, and available on iTunes and other outlets in a few months, according to Notaro on her podcast. She can also be heard on this weekend's episode of "This American Life."
The same podcast included an announcement that Notaro recently signed a book deal. In addition, she is currently writing on Amy Schumer's upcoming Comedy Central sketch show.
