Students Panic During Active Shooter 'Drill' No One Knew About

North Lake College in Irving, Texas will reconsider its drill notification system after it scared the hell out of students in a nursing building and caused widespread panic, according to the Dallas Morning News.

The school simulated a school shooting in the building, but no one -- including staff -- knew it was fake. Active shooter drills are common on universities since the Virginia Tech massacre and late report highlighted areas where universities and colleges could better prepare for crime emergencies.

J.C. Drake, the school's chief of police, told WFAA, "“The email did not specify that shots would be fired and that people would hear chaos."

Later interviews confirmed both.

Students dove under their desks, preparing for a mad man to enter their classroom and kill them. They sent text messages to their loved ones and called the local police.
