One of football's biggest clowns would like to run away and join the NFL's most over-hyped circus.
No, not Ochocinco. Terrell Owens.
As the injury-addled New York Jets' gave a spirited yet ramshackle effort against the Houston Texans on "Monday Night Football," Owens went public with his look for work.
With injuries to Santonio Holmes, Dustin Keller and Stephen Hill, the Jets' depth chart is awfully shallow -- and increasingly awful. Not surprisingly, the Jets' available receivers didn't provide much help for Mark Sanchez or Tim (on his one throw) throughout the 23-17 loss to the Texans.
That the team opted to send cornerback Antonio Cromartie out with the offense without even bringing in Owens, Johnson or even Plaxico Burress for a look at practice suggests that the answer is a resounding "No."
But if they don't want Jeremy Kerley to be the No. 1 receiver heading into Week 6 the Jets do have an option. He's available.
If the Jets pass then former MLB pitcher and current TBS analyst David Wells has a suggestion for Owens.
