It has been a little over a week since pictures surfaced of country star Jason Aldean cheating on his wife of 11 years with former "American Idol" hopeful Brittany Kerr. But, although the aftermath of the scandal has been "tough," Aldean says things are on the mend at home with his family.

"I think when it comes to all the things that have been going on lately, it's just been a tough situation," the 35-year-old singer told "CMT Insider" on Oct. 8. "I know everybody's kinda going to have their opinion, and for the people that know me ... and the people that are standing by us and supporting us, all I've got to say to them is thanks ... It's just been a really unfortunate thing. Really embarrassing, I think, more than anything."

Aldean publicly apologized for his actions shortly after TMZ released the photos of him and Kerr kissing, admitting, "The truth is I screwed up." Kerr, 24, also apologized for her indiscretions.

"You can handle it two ways: You can go hide and run from it, or you can get up and face it and deal with it," Aldean said of why he and Kerr confessed to the affair, "And that's kind of what we tried to do and just kind of move on."

As for how things are going back at home with his wife, Jessica Ussery, who is the mother of his two daughters Keeley and Kendyl, the country crooner says "everything's good."

"The main thing is that me and my family are OK and everything's good there," he shared. "So I think it's been a tough deal. But I kind of said what I needed to say to them, and, hopefully, they understand that and the rest of it will be us dealing with it in private and trying to fix it. It's good, though."
