SANAA, Oct 11 (Reuters) - Masked gunmen shot dead a Yemeni man on his way to work at the U.S. embassy in Sanaa on Thursday, a security source said, the latest in a wave of assassinations in the Arab state where Washington is battling al Qaeda militants. The attackers on a motorcycle opened fire on a car carrying Qassem Aqlan - who headed an embassy security team - in the centre of Yemen's capital, the source told Reuters. "This (assassination) operation has the fingerprints of al Qaeda which carried out similar operations before," said the source who asked not to be named. The Yemen-based al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula and other militant groups strengthened their grip on parts of the country during an uprising that ousted veteran President Ali Abdullah Saleh in February. There have been a number of assassinations attempts, some of them successful, on security officials and politicians since Yemen's army drove Islamist fighters out of several southern towns earlier this year. Washington, wary of the growing power of al Qaeda, has stepped up drone strikes on suspected militant positions, with the backing of Saleh's successor, President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi. Men armed with machine guns and rockets attacked a security checkpoint in Yemen's southern city of al-Dalea late on Wednesday, injuring two policemen, a local official said on Thursday. The attackers, whose affiliation was not immediately clear, fled the scene, the official said. (Reporting by Mohammed Ghobari; Writing by Rania El Gamal; Editing by Andrew Heavens)

Another fine example of how Al Qaeda, Taliban et al have been eradicated from the Middle East and the fear they have of Obama. The keepers of the Middle East, Qudaffi and Mubarak were elimintated at the behest of Obama, in return we have the return of everything imaginable in the way of Terrorists. Not to mention his interference in Lebanon, Mali and Africa all going to the Terrorists. People flooding into other countries, thousands of refugees, Syria with over 30,000 dead and Russia and China telling Obama get back.
Hezbollah today says it is ready to wage war on Israel and it has the weapons and the man power. Won't that be a nice prior to election October surprise. I don't know how many more surprises this bunch in charge in Washington can take.
Israel also in a poll says they want Romney to win.
Go to International news to see for yourself.
Iraq and Afghanistan a total failure now with Obama at the helm soon the rats will be fleeing because his is a sinking ship. If he messes with Hillary he will get shot out of the water like a mouse in a Typhoon.

i swear sometimes, the people on this site are so stupid. i mean come on. blaming obama and biden for some random act around the world is just childish and stupid. what about the stupid random acts that occurred during the reign of the burning bush? get over it. oh, but then there were the less random acts....like the loss of two, no three major buildings and about 5 thousand innocent people. didnt see THAT one coming did you georgie...

I guess the smug-meister from Delaware won't have an honest response for this one, either! (But, he'll collect his "rent" money for the Secret Service's use of his mother's house for the purpose of protecting him! Who'd want to get rid of him; he's the best asset any anti-American could ask for). These people from Chicago are only interested in their "take" from this White House invasion. Then, there's always the Moslem who runs the joint. Hopefully, Americans wake up this time around, because four more years of this could spell disaster!

Can't say I feel any worse about this type of killing, than I do drone strikes that target people with no legal cause. Actually, this might be more targeted, more justified, than many of the killings committed by those operating the drones.

Another murder and still nothing from the WH...Guess he isn't that worried as he sees it as another bump in the road.....He thinks extremist need a equal playing ground....How about Joe saying we should give the terrorist $200,000,000 just to show how nice we are..Tell the people of our country that have lost their jobs and homes that our country can afford to hand over to terrorist but cant bail out the people here at home...You can always tell when they don't have their children being killed, as the Senate and Congress and the WH, only have 5 offspring that are serving our country..would they feel the same if it was their child..being dragged thru the streets and sodomized and mutilated....This is wrong on so many levels how many more have to die............

Washington, D.C., 12 April 2004 - President Bush on Saturday, 10 April 2004, became the first sitting president ever to release publicly even a portion of his Daily Brief from the CIA. The page-and-a-half section of the President's Daily Brief from 6 August 2001, headlined "Bin Ladin Determined To Strike in US," had generated the most contentious questioning in last week's testimony by national security adviser Condoleezza Rice before the commission investigating the September 11th attacks. Dr. Rice continued to insist that the Brief did not amount to a real warning, while several commissioners seemed to think otherwise.
Let them kill each other! They have been doing it for thousands of years! Only get involved if they attack us! Then respond by sending them back to the stone age! Not one more drop of American blood on there sand!

What more do we need to know? The west needs to divist itself of cheap-mid east oil. We have enough here. Screw the enviornmentalists - if one U.S. kid is saved, it's worth it. The foolishness surroounding how it can be done to be politically green needs to stop. With today's technology, we can do both. Young lives lost in the mid-east can be too. It's not a bad thing to put our interests first.

Darrell Issa has already passed judgement for the American People on how Barry screwed up again. Our Cobra-Clapper with his finger on the pulse on tar, feather and smear.

USA should pull our personnel out of the Middle East, the leaders only want our money. Pull our money out of All Middle East countries to name a few: Iraq, Iran(Koch brothers), Afghanistan, Yemen, Libya, Yemen, Pakistan, Egypt. All those countries citizens who are killing each other, let them kill each other. Once they clean their act up or another country cleans them out. The MAJORITY DOES NOT WANT DEMOCRACY AND FREEDOM. So let them have it their way. How many American lives need to be lost and how much money can we afford to lose. Russia may try to take control, they already lost a war in Afghanistan. No matter how much are you all willing to lose for OIL. The USA has sustainable energy from the SUN, the WIND, the OCEANS. The Middle East is the 47% OBAMA & ROMNEY should STOP SUPPORTING!!!!! Save the USA's 47% the Romney wants to ignore.
Eedsiad: USA should pull our personnel out of the Middle East,
Just a tad misinformed I see, Dearie. Must be part of the undereducated Obama sycohpant brigade.
The Koch Brother have nothing to do with Iran, so why did you even list them?
Further solar and wind power sources are still part of the unattainable sources ... technology isn't thgere yet to make them afforable and practical. But we do have sufficient resources of coal, natural gas and oil, we just have to get the fed out of the way and close down most of the EPA.
We also need to get the EPA out of the refineyr business and go ahead with new refinery construction - none built here since the 70's becasue of the EPA, and rely on more nuclear power.
Once we open new big fields, such as the one in Alaska that Sarah palin wanted us to drill in, we will have enough American oil resources to last us 130 years. But we will need 8-10 years to develop the fields, drill and transport.
Meanwhile we will continue to see gas prices rising as well as heating oil costs. Thank you, Obama!
Gov. Romney is not ignoring the 47%. He was referring to that portion of them, perhaps half, who are wards of the state living off of "free" things and programs paid for off the backs of working people. The welfare class is permanently in the democrat camp, since they are the party that keeps taking our money to subsidize those who refuse to work.

Eedsaid...dont forget Uganda, Central Africa, Sudan...as Obama has sent troops to all those cities and countries,,If we dont think of the 48% (not 47%) that are paying the way for the 51%...If that isnt enough reason for a change what is...The middle class is going broke and many worry about is what that can get for free....Since the President is also a millionaire, who would you protect, as he would have to pay more out of his pocket..

Yemen is a complex situation as U.S. policy supports the corrupt and authoritarian regime there and its sectarian religious policies against the majority of people who have demanded reform and change. Of course, Al-Qaida is also opposed to the corrupt regime which in turn motivates the U.S. to defend this corrupt government which goes against the best interests of the people. It's a political catch-22 which will not last as the majority will eventually oust the crooks. By supporting this regime as well as authoritarian ones such as Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, we are objectively helping to build Al-Qaida which is not in our best interests.

Actually, Dearie, it is this muddled thinking from the Obama regime that is causing the muslm world to explode as terrorists are being emboldened to throw off governments and seize control. For the most part many arabs and muslims live in the Stone Age with tribes that are always at war. They need a strong leader, even a dictator, to keep peace. Whenever we muddle in there affairs problems arise.
Just look at Obama's failures.
He ignores protestors in Iran, who are generally better educated thanks to the deceased Shah. By doing so he emboldned the crazies who run the country (thanks to Carter), and the country is now a threat to peace.
the Inept One calls for the overthrow of President Muburak in Eygpt, a strong allie and peacekeeper in the region, then invites the Muslim Brtotherhood to govern, and they are tied to al Quada and other extremists. Thus he paved the way for new future crisis.
Without lawful authority, Obama attacks Libya to overthrow their leader, who had become an allie in recent years to quell the terrorists within his country. Same result, the country has been turned over to muslim terrorists who are presently murdering Coptic Christians.
So far the Saudis and Bahrain are holding there own against the terrorists - unless Obama screws up again. Already he is meddling in Yemen, and the handwriting may soon be on the walls as extremists come into power.
Lesson Learned: keep their dictators in place, for a safer

We are supplying Al Qaeda in Syria, and fighting them in Afghanistan, and Yemen... And where ever else we choose to send a drone or troops. Like the latest build up of American troops on the Jordanian side of the Jordan, Syria border.
Epic Fail.

A non fail would be the US on a non interventionist foreign policy. Not being hypocritical. And leaving NATO, in the mindset that our Founding Fathers had...

Not so, dearie. No thinking person endorses what Obama has done. His has failed us on out economy, jobs, debt, national security and now, as we are witnessing, in foreign policy.

Which is why I believe we shoud take oil out of the equation for the U.S. and the western hemisphere. We can figurre iit out just fine by ourselves. Extricate our companies invested there and put them here. It's just cheaper there - we need to bite the bullet, and make it happen here. Once that money is gone in the midweast, you'll see a great difference in cultural and religious warfare.
