In a game where it was difficult to find a bright spot for either team, Rams receiver Brandon Gibson managed to make a highlight-reel catch that might be shown a few more times at the end of the season.
Down 17-14 with 51 seconds left, St. Louis was in desperate need for some momentum on its final drive that started on its own 3-yard line. From their own 27, Sam Bradford dropped back in shotgun and looked like he had his eyes on Gibson on his left the entire time. He threw a deep pass to his receiver's back shoulder in single coverage and gave him a chance to make a play.
Gibson made Bradford look good.
The 25-year-old was able to turn his body in mid-air, reach back behind his helmet with his right arm and make an incredible one-handed catch for a 22-yard gain. Once he landed on the ground, the Rams' sideline seemed to know it would count as a catch judging from the celebration.
Unfortunately for the Rams, they weren't able to move the ball much after that and were forced to try a 66-yard field goal from Greg Zuerlein. The kick went wide left and the Dolphins won 17-14.
