Last Christmas my roommate received a gag gift from a friend: a bottle of "Wonderstruck" by pop queen, Taylor Swift. However it didn't take long for me to discover that the singer's perfume was more of a gem than a joke. The scent, which is a cross between a strawberry smoothie and a wild flower garden, was exactly the dreamy fragrance that I had (unknowingly) been searching for. Even though I prefer out-there, avant garde clothes, I like to keep my beauty products delicate and feminine so the scent felt like a perfect fit. I even love the baubles and glitter that dangle from the bottle. Wearing it calls to mind vintage movies like "Labyrinth" and "Peter Pan," and I'm always into some nostalgia.
As I've gotten older, I've discovered a lot of great products that work for me; but I also feel that as my makeup has grown more adult (and I buy less of it from Claire's), it's lost some of the fun. No more cavity-inducing sweet scents, less pink, and, sadly, fewer sparkles (I mean, do you remember roll-on glitter?).
Since I discovered that "Wonderstruck" was my...gasp...signature scent, I wondered what other teenage-specific products were out there waiting for grown women like myself. We rounded up a few of our favorites in the slideshow below, and we promise you won't look like Drew Barrymore in "Never Been Kissed." And since they're intended for girls working with a babysitter's salary, they won't break your bank!
