Amy Grant: Caregiving 'Can Be Such A Lonely Process'

Singer Amy Grant Talks About Caring For Her Mom And Dad

Singer/songwriter Amy Grant, 52, is a six-time Grammy winner. She also one of 42 million Americans who act as caregivers for loved ones. On Friday, Grant spoke with Katie Couric on "Katie" to talk about the most meaningful tour of her life -- in 2008, when she came back from the road and decided to take a break from her career to care for her mother, who died last year. Now she is caring for her father, a retired radiation oncologist, who suffers with dementia.

Caregiving "can be such a lonely process, but I have learned so much from people who have open up to me about their experience so I just thought I want to open up the dialogue; and also my sisters and I all went, 'what have we planed for when we're old?'" Grant said.
