Giants vs. Tigers

The 2012 World Series matchup is set and the Detroit Tigers are bound for San Francisco to begin the latest edition of the Fall Classic. By virtue of outlasting the St. Louis Cardinals in the NLCS, the Giants own home-field advantage as the National League representative.

Thanks to the Senior Circuit's victory in the 2012 All-Star Game (which included a rough outing by Tigers ace Justin Verlander and an MVP performance from suspended Giants outfielder Melky Cabrera), San Francisco will host the opening two games at picturesque AT&T Park. The series will then move to Comerica Park in Detroit for Games 3 and 4. Provided the series isn't a sweep, Game 5 will also be played at Comerica. If necessary, Games 6 and 7 will be back in San Francisco.

Having swept the New York Yankees in the ALCS, the Tigers have their pitching rotation all lined up. Barring an unforeseen change, Verlander will be on the bump at AT&T Park on Wednesday. The Giants won't have the benefit of much rest but have proven that they should never be counted out.
